Social networking involves increasing the amount of business or social contacts by making connections through individuals. Social networking has gone on nearly as long as cultures have occurred; the limitless potential of the Internet to encourage such connections is being fully recognized and utilized through Web-based groups recognized for that purpose.
Based on the six degrees of separation theory social networking establishes interconnected personal networks that assist people make contacts that would be good for them to know, but that they would be
unlikely to have met otherwise. In general, you join one of the sites and invite people you know to join as well. Those people ask their contacts to join, and the process repeats for each person. In theory, any individual can make contact through anyone they have a association to any of the people that person has a association to, and so on.
